Neapolitan pizza is best fresh, straight out of the oven. But leftovers happen (sometimes on purpose). The good news: you can reheat it at home and still get a great bite, crispy base, soft crust, melty cheese.
Below are the easiest methods, depending on what you have at home.
The golden rule (before you start)
High heat + short time is your best friend. Neapolitan pizza doesnt want a long, slow re-bake.
If your pizza was in the fridge, take it out for 5-10 minutes while you preheat. Not mandatory, but it helps it heat more evenly.
Method 1: Oven (best overall)
If you want the closest thing to fresh, use the oven.
How to do it
- Preheat to 230-250C (as hot as your oven comfortably goes).
- Put the pizza on a hot tray or pizza stone if you have one.
- Heat for 4-7 minutes.
Pro tip
If the top is done but the base isn’t crisp enough, move the pizza to a lower rack for the last 1-2 minutes.
Method 2: Pan + lid (best for crispy base)
This is the I want it crispy and I want it now method.
How to do it
- Heat a non-stick pan on medium.
- Place the pizza slice in the pan (no oil needed).
- Cover with a lid for 2-4 minutes.
- If you want extra crisp, uncover for the last 30-60 seconds.
Why it works
The pan crisps the base, and the lid traps heat to melt the cheese.
Method 3: Air fryer (fastest)
Air fryers are great, but timing matters, go too long and the crust turns into a cracker.
How to do it
- Preheat (if your model does) to 180-200C.
- Heat for 2-4 minutes.
- Check at 2 minutes, then add time in 30-second steps.
Pro tip
If your air fryer runs aggressive, drop the temp slightly and go a bit longer.
What not to do (unless you like sad pizza)
- Microwave only: it heats the cheese but makes the base soft.
- Low heat for a long time: dries out the crust.
If you must microwave, do 20-30 seconds just to take the chill off, then finish in a pan for crisp.
Quick FAQ
Should I reheat the whole pizza or slices?
Slices reheat more evenly. Whole pizzas are doable, but youll need a little longer in the oven.
Can I reheat in the toaster?
Only if it fits safely and doesnt drip cheese everywhere. Pan/oven is usually easier.
How long do leftovers last?
Best within 1-2 days in the fridge. Keep it in an airtight container.
The short version (save this)
- Oven: 230-250C, 4-7 min
- Pan + lid: medium heat, 2-4 min
- Air fryer: 180-200C, 2-4 min
